FLUX 2014 – «best public transport system in a mountain tourist destination»
The FLUX prize for 2014 will be awarded to the «best public transport system in a mountain tourist destination». From a public transport perspective, summer tourism, the interplay between access and local development, and connections to the mountain railways are important. The main focus is on the benefit to the customer.
Mountain tourist destinations were deemed by the jury to be towns lying at least 1,000 metres above sea level with mountain railways that operate in summer and with at least ten public transport connections per day to the nearest transport hub. Other criteria were used to narrow down the shortlist. Is there public transport access for people with limited mobility? Are there any packages available that include arriving there by public transport? Does the town promote getting there by public transport on its website? From a selection of almost 50 transport hubs, five were nominated for the FLUX prize. These are Nendaz, Champéry, Scuol, Lenzerheide and St. Moritz.
The prize will be awarded on 6 November 2014 in the Kursaal Berne.
