Alpine Ticket
The supplementary tourist ticket
According to the Railways Act, tourist routes do not serve primarily as a means of connecting permanently inhabited settlements. Unlike routes which serve a connecting function, PostBus Switzerland Ltd. receives no compensation from the public sector for any uncovered costs incurred when operating these tourist routes. This means that the operation of such a service must at least cover its costs. The surcharge for tourist routes applies to all passengers and is included in the cost of single tickets. For flat-rate passes (e.g. General Abonnement), an additional purchase must be made in the form of an Alpine Ticket.
