The Grimsel–Nufenen–Gotthard–Susten Pass Route, from Meiringen, offers views of Switzerland’s four most impressive Alpine passes in a single day. You ascend no less than 8000 meters in distance –and profit underway from a free audio-guide that provides interesting information about the special sights along the way (seat reservations recommended).

On the passes there’s more than enough time to enjoy your fill of the magnificent scenery and - during the lunchtime break in Ticino’s picturesque Airolo village – time to enjoy a delicious bite to eat. (PostBus stop Airolo, Stazione). And the Grimsel Pass entertains with even more stunning views as you pass beautifully shimmering artificial lakes along the winding path. (PostBus stop Grimsel Passhöhe). The imposing Nufenen mountain world (PostBus stop Nufenen Passhöhe) is yet another breathtaking spot- and perhaps we should mention that, at 2478 meters above sea level, it’s Switzerland’s highest travelled Alpine pass road.

The famous Gotthard, known as the king of passes, generally requires no introduction –and it’s from here that you enjoy views of the old pass route that served as a significant North-South connection as far back as the Roman era.  (PostBus stop Gotthard Passhöhe). The Devil’s Bridge is yet another highlight on this scenic trip – leading over the wild and rugged Schöllenen Gorge. On the way to the Susten Pass the PostBus traverses the grand sum of 25 brides and 25 tunnels – and this certainly takes some beating! And of course Susten offers superb views of the renowned Stein Glacier. (PostBus stop Steingletscher, Susten).
