Piz Munschuns
Hiking tip: Piz Munschuns
Starting from the top station (2,488 m), this trail leads you along the shoulder of Alp Trida for a few minutes, before zig-zagging steeply up to the summit of Piz Munschuns (2,657 m). Here you are met by spectacular views of the Ötztal Alps and the impressive Ortler massif.
Arrival
By Postbus from Scuol to Ravaisch, via Martina
From the Postbus stop, it's just a five-minute walk to the base station of the Samnaun aerial cableway, which operates during the summer from July to mid-October.
The hike
Starting from the top station (2,488 m), this trail leads you along the shoulder of Alp Trida for a few minutes, before zig-zagging steeply up to the summit of Piz Munschuns (2,657 m). Here you are met by spectacular views of the Ötztal Alps and the impressive Ortler massif. On a clear day, you can even see the summits of the Bernina massif on the horizon. The route takes you back along the same path to the upper cable car station and on towards Skihaus Alp Trida (2,263 m). The final leg of this hike joins up with the road every now and again but for the most part takes you along short-cuts passing through Laret (1,715m) and continuing down to the main road.
